Society of ancient Israel maintains the seventh day / Sabbath. The benefit is for the slaves to feel a day off, apart from forced labor demanded by their masters.
Too-in the agrarian culture of Israel, after 6 years of planting season, the seventh year the land was not allowed to be planted. For them the low of god, but for us who know science, it means giving time for the soil to regenerate the soil enrichment process itself.
Still in Israel ancient, after a period of 7 x 7 sabbatical years or 49 years, on the fiftieth year is the year in which the slaves should be freed, debts of of the poor must be considered in full. It's called Jubelium year or the year of liberation. Is not this also a religious wisdom of that area ?
